A vision of your story told through film
Wedding Videography Frequently Asked Questions
Planning your wedding and choosing the right wedding videographer is incredibly overwhelming, and i'm glad you have landed on this page. The chances are that you have watched the films and now just have a few questions before reaching out. I hope you find this page helpful.
Depending on the time of year, perfecting your wedding video on average can take around 8-12 weeks, but don't let that put you off. In most cases it's quicker, and if there are delays then I keep you posted every step of the way.
How long do we have to wait to receive our films?
Although camera technology is getting better and better (for now), covering both video and photo at the same time comes with it's own challenges, I have done a few hybrid weddings like this, and it's logistically very hard and often fails to produce the required professional level. I can provide a complete package with separate photographer and myself as the videographer, but often find it's easier to point you in the direction of my preferred vendors.
Can you recommend a trusted photographer or provide both?
Can we have the raw footage?
Would you eat a half baked cake? Shooting your video is only the start of the process, once I have all the ingredients it needs to bake (post-production) for a while before it's cooled and fully decorated! The process of creating your film is much the same. The raw footage is just that "raw", it has shaky bits and blurry bits, audio that's not in synch with my audio recorders, colour thats undersaturated and washed out due to log profiles, and on top of that most computers will struggle to play 10-bit log format video files, until it's baked it's just not ready to be eaten yet.
I am based in Buckinghamshire which nicely places me at venues around Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire. However, I am more than happy to travel all over the UK. I have covered weddings from Brighton to Liverpool and Edinburgh, and if you are looking a destination wedding, then please give me a call.
What areas do you cover?
All films are delivered electronically via an online cloud solution and via USB. We store your films and original media files for 12 months. Longer storage is available, priced upon request.
How do we receive our films?
Do you have insurance?
Yes, I definitely do. It's critical that your vendors have insurance in place to protect themselves and others during the wedding day. If your venue requires any documentation please ask and I will happily send this on for you.
Although I am quite discreet in my approach I still bring along all the best video equipment to create a professional film. I use Sony A7siii cameras, and a mix of Sony lenses, pro level DJI Gimbals, LED lights for super dark spaces, discreet microphones, plenty of memory cards and lots of spare batteries.
What equipment do you use?
This is a tough question to properly answer and the discussions and opinions are quite diverse. That said, and for the purpose of wedding films they are essentially the same thing. I have an entire blog post all about this subject called videographer vs cinematographer!
Are you a videographer or cinematographer?
Can we choose the music?
I use fully licensed music from professional music library services, so I select music that compliments the style and vibe of your wedding. We can discuss your preferred genre of music but in most cases your personal tastes don't always reflect the emotions and vibe of your wedding day, you might love Rock music but have a very chilled wedding for example.
Also, to be able to build the story of your day I would use multiple tracks that compliment each other, these are often in the same musical key to make the transitions pleasing on the ear. Another item worth mentioning is copyrights, If I was to use a commercial song then it would be very unlikely that you would be able to obtain a licence from the artist to share your video with friends and family online.
With all that said, if you really, really want to use a particular track then please be aware that it will impact the length and story telling of your film and I cannot be held accountable for any legal disputes that may occur.
